"No, I am not lost. This girl tripped in the hall and I wanted to make sure she was alright. From what I saw, she was not daydreaming, she only tripped on a crack in the floor from going fast to get the food to the table promptly. It was an accident." Angela said and looked to the other maid again "I hope you do not blame her for what could not be helped?"

The kitchen maid's smile disappeared and her expression became rather flat as she looked sidelong at Angela, her hands still on her hips. "If Emily were watching where she was going, she would not have tripped now, would she? The child is a clumsy oaf, and her mother is lucky that cook needed a scullery maid or I'd have turned her out already." She glared at Emily, scowling once more, but let her pass, as she was busy and didn't want to deal with Angela. Her black garb was a bit intimidating, but the kitchen maid would never admit to as much.
Emily hurried past once she was freed to do so, sticking her tounge out at the kitchen maid's back when her back was turned.
Just as she was going to round the corner, the kitchen maid piped up without looking at her, stating ,"you had better get cleaned up, there are going to be a boatload of dishes tonight, Emily."
Nodding, Emily proceeded to slip into the scullery, where pots and pans were already gathering for her to scrub out. Sighing, she went to the slop bucket to shake out her apron.
