"No, I am not lost. This girl tripped in the hall and I wanted to make sure she was alright. From what I saw, she was not daydreaming, she only tripped on a crack in the floor from going fast to get the food to the table promptly. It was an accident." Angela said and looked to the other maid again "I hope you do not blame her for what could not be helped?"
~~~
The kitchen maid's smile disappeared and her expression became rather flat as she looked sidelong at Angela, her hands still on her hips. "If Emily were watching where she was going, she would not have tripped now, would she? The child is a clumsy oaf, and her mother is lucky that cook needed a scullery maid or I'd have turned her out already." She glared at Emily, scowling once more, but let her pass, as she was busy and didn't want to deal with Angela. Her black garb was a bit intimidating, but the kitchen maid would never admit to as much.
Emily hurried past once she was freed to do so, sticking her tounge out at the kitchen maid's back when her back was turned.
Just as she was going to round the corner, the kitchen maid piped up without looking at her, stating ,"you had better get cleaned up, there are going to be a boatload of dishes tonight, Emily."
Nodding, Emily proceeded to slip into the scullery, where pots and pans were already gathering for her to scrub out. Sighing, she went to the slop bucket to shake out her apron.
Angela followed Emily to help her get cleaned up, glancing to the pile of dishes with a frown. She hadn't really thought about what happened behind the scenes in a kitchen before. "That seems like an awful lot of dishes for one person" She said as she returned to helping Emily clean up as well as she could
Lillia thought about Sino's request for a few moments.
"Who is this newcomer? And I will have to think about this for more than just a few simple minutes, because we definitely need more scouts, could do with another guard, there are so many job options that need to be paid attention to. But I will consider it." Lillia told him sincerely.
Sino nodded gratefully, and replied "It would be Lady Angela. The one who wears the dark clothing like me. Her father was an executioner, and she worked in his office at another kingdom. I have grown to trust her, so all failure would be my responsibility."
Lyra smiled then laughed softly "I am good with truth, am I not?" She asked jokingly then looked to her plate to start eating the lovely meal
Aisling blushed and looked down to her lap then nodded quietly. "It is often hard to find the words I wish to say." She said softly after a little while.
"Yes, you are. But I wouldn't want you any other way. " Reptar agreed, as he also focused upon his own food.
Aiveron grinned and said gently to change the topic, "I've even thinking about out outing. I was wondering if a picnic lunch would be alright. Perhaps a boat ride after, if you're not too adverse to water and can swim."
"I am just a peasant class kid. I'm no lady or merchant or anything like that, so I gotta work if I want to have a good life. It's not all bad though, I get to taste test things for the cook and I have a warm place to sleep every night, plus someday I will get to move up to kitchen maid myself, and maybe even cook if I'm lucky! I'm gonna be able to run the best kitchen in the kingdom! Maybe, if we can gain land beyond the castle some day, I could run a tavern!" Emily talked about her plans. She wasn't going to let a few dishes bring her down, no matter how high they stacked.
Lyra smiled and ate the meal, falling quiet as she did. It was a wonderful meal, but her thoughts were distracted still.
Aisling smiled and glanced to him again "I am not good at swimming, but I do like the idea of a picnic and a boat ride with you" She said softly.
Angela smiled and whispered conspiratorially "Well, I am no Lady either, my father was the executioner at the kingdom we lived in before." She said then moved to wash her hands off from the pie "So, I know what it is like to have to work for your supper and all of that. I like the way your dream sounds, running a tavern would need a hard worker."
