It's going to be super cold.

Here is the coop my 2012 peas are inside of. Originally built for chickens,it now is going to be a new building for growing out newly hatched peas next year. I only have doors on 3 of the coops,I can during the summertime swing open the plywood doors and I have a piece of welded 1/2"x1" wire to keep birds inside but allow air movement especially when it gets 95 degrees outside here in July abd August. The white sided building you can see above the coop roof is our garage, and between these I have pens built to keep birds seperated.

WOW i can feel the wind blowing in these photos

hang in there Frenchy

And when you open the plywood door, this is whats inside one of these coop pens. They seemed okay and drank and ate a lot so I'm not concerned about their well being in this cold.

-45 and everyone seems to be fine. Even the ones with minimal shelters. I was concerned but everyone was ok when I checked this afternoon

Yeah I am sure the peas getting close to each other like that helps them keep warm. I hope your pens do well in the weather. It is a good thing you have the right kind of netting. Those photos that you sometimes see of snow piled up on netting looks like a nightmare!

So far so good! They were not hudled up together, they were running around and wanting out!

Guess there ain't much they can do out in the snow, you could hang a cabbage in there to give them something to mess with, mine love cabbage.

I hope all of you guys and all of your varied birds and animals are holding up on this cold night!

Take care!!

FBC, Weather Underground says that you are at -10.5, "feels like -26." Yikes!

I agree I have been giving them the tough ends of cabbage so that they can pick on that for something to do. It probably helps them warm up moving around picking the cabbage too.
