No turning back now! I have all the anxiety of becoming a new mamma! I'm completely new to the world of raising chicks! Other than hearing stories from my mom when she was young growing up on the farm, I've no experience in doing this! Am I even qualified to do so!!?? I feel incredibly blessed to experience this next season of life and am looking forward to it! I've got 10 -4 week old chicks being delivered tomorrow or day after...5 Rhode Island Reds and 5 Silver Laced Wyandotte's. After researching I decided to start with these. Coop and run are ready to go! I plan to keep them in the coop for 24 hours upon arrival, and letting them in the run during the day after that. Do I need to lay newspaper down in the coop over the bedding at this age for them? Also, should I put some roosting bars down low for them until they get big enough to use the others? I'm trying so hard to do everything so right, I'll just be heart broken if something happens. So grateful to be part of this community! Thank you Back Yard Chickens Community!
