Anyway, cross your fingers. He just left for work in that mess (an hour drive on the interstate to Columbia)

My son just called from USC in Columbia and said everyones out in the horseshoe playing and he and his friends went and rang the presidents door bell and he came out in the snow with them. He said they had no luck getting him to cancel classes though, lol.

You all crack me up! We have such a wide area of snow cover in New England that for the next couple of nights we get to experience "radiational cooling". That's when there is snow cover, clear skies, and no wind. Any residual heat from the day gets sucked into outer space, and we end up near zero over night.

Just like the chickens.....spend the night roosting with a loved one to stay warm.

snowdrop that's just funny right there. Luck to your husband though since we don't get much around here the roads aren't kept very well and people lose their minds driving in it.

You poor babies!! We've got about six inches on the ground. My kids keep praying for three more feet! (We more than that last year in a two week time period.)

My son just got home from work and it's -13 outside. With the wind blowing I'm guessing the wind chill is in the minus 20s!!

I love the snow ... hate the cold.

Rocket Raley, I'm from Columbia. I talked to my mom tonight around 6:00 and so far they had not got any yet but she was expecting it to start any time. I hope your DH will be safe on the roads.

Whole different world around here. I was in Montana for 2 years in the Air Force. Up there they are prepared for it, good road crews and all. Around here the only roads that are worked on are done so after the snow has already done most of the damage and then only the major roads are hit. Last year the road I live on had about 1 1/2 solid ice for 4 days and never a bit of work from road crews. We don't keep snow chains because we hardly ever would have use for them, and most of the drivers have never driven in those conditions so they do not know what to do, but they get out anyway making it that much worse than it needs to be for the rest of us. I drive an 18 wheeler and have been to every state in the country in the worst conditions imaginable ( snow, ice, hail, hurricanes, tornadoes, firebreaks) but most people haven't and you have to understand where people are at and that the experience is different for everyone. I drive a feed truck now so no matter what the conditions are the trucks have to roll. The turkeys and chickens have to eat 7 days a week and regardless we deliver it to them.
