So... My sons Aunt had her mobile home burn up. Everybody survived, but it was a total loss.

Seems there is a bad habit of plugging in too many space heaters on those cheap power strip cords. Some are so bad, that when the breaker on the power strip trips, it won't reset. On top of that, the heater throws out scorching heat, just waiting to catch something on fire.

There are some good space heaters out there. Personally I have been using Vornado space heaters in my coop. They give off a mild heat. Nothing gets hot to the touch, and there are multiple settings for the fan, and it has an adjustable dial for room temp settings.

The only caveat is they need the dust blown out of them from time to time.

Be safe.....

Forgot to mention that there is an automatic "tip over" shut off feature.

I'm sorry to hear of the misfortune with your son's aunt. It's a terrible loss but it's wonderful everyone is ok. I hope they have a safe place to live until they can acquire another home.
Good information on the space heater, thanks for sharing that. Space heaters in general are bad news but this one sounds like a winner. I will be checking into that.

2 of those heaters got me through 2 winters back to back in negative 50 wind chills in the coop.

After posting this, I walked into the coop and found the heater tipped over. Evidently somebody got a bit rambunctious in the coop, so the auto shut off works.

Ceramic type in the bath room only to knock the AM chill off before a shower, Kerosene for when we lose power. Nothing left on if we leave the house.
