Itty Bitty Leg Bands?

@Sara L, would wing bands work? This is another way to keep track of birds throughout their life. I know I read about using wing bands for quail previously on BYC. I'll have to see if I can find the link. We've used the occasional zip tie, but quail legs are so tiny, that the zip ties will easily come off. Also, on our chickens, you have to really watch since they grow quickly, and zip ties can quickly become too tight, but too loose and they fall off.

I was hesitant to use wing bands because they pierce the wing. I didn't want to injure the birds or open the possibility of infection.

Although I haven’t used them, they are pretty common to use with birds, so my expectation is that they are very low risk with regards to potential injury or infection.
