I was hesitant to use wing bands because they pierce the wing. I didn't want to injure the birds or open the possibility of infection.@Sara L, would wing bands work? This is another way to keep track of birds throughout their life. I know I read about using wing bands for quail previously on BYC. I'll have to see if I can find the link. We've used the occasional zip tie, but quail legs are so tiny, that the zip ties will easily come off. Also, on our chickens, you have to really watch since they grow quickly, and zip ties can quickly become too tight, but too loose and they fall off.
