I've got a really odd question...

Depend's on the bird actualy. We just had to put one down last weekend.I have alway's tried to handle my "keeper' breeder's a lot in the past.It doesn't alway's work out. Most of the time it turn's out to be a roo that goe's bad.I raised 2 of the BIGGEST Roo's one a RIR and one Jersey Giant and they were big ham's and I could hold them anyday. But Have had some other's that there was No breaking them.Mostly bantam's with the exception of one Golden Polish roo.He was mean mean mean.I have several newbie's that are following me now hen's and roo's and several fly to my shoulder.Poor Buddy

. Wish he hadnt done again the bad thing. But there seem's to be peace in that coop now and I or grandbaby hasnt got flogged again.

Never knew chickens showed affection. All of my 7 week old chicks will come crowding out when the door is opened to their hutch....they all want to sit on my lap. One of them is very loving...a White EE...she started the first week wanting me to hold her. She would talk to me so low I could barely hear her; almost like she was telling me about her day. The other evening I went out to check their water and feed and she came out the door and snuggled up against me and was making a noise like a coo. I held her and she started going to sleep; very trusting.

The 10 week old chicks are so big now...sound like grownup hens with their clucking. But they still like for me to sit down in front of their hutch and open the door. Veronica is usually the first out. I can take the 6 girls and hold them...turn them on their backs with feet in the air.

Now the BO girls are still skittish...a few weeks back they suddenly began to come and wait to be held but on their terms.

Show them you love them and they can trust you not to harm them and they will become your friend.

Good luck!
