Hey all!

I've hit a lovely milestone with my garden that I can now raise new chicks on things we already have (boiled eggs, oats, pumpkin, ect.) rather than buying feed. They've been growing healthy and strong and are very lively.

Yay for more self-sufficiency!

The problem...

Chicks love to play in their food! They stamp all over it and fling it and spread it everywhere, and their little feathers end up a sticky icky mess.

It's pretty funny and doesn't seem to harm them in the end, but I'm wondering if there's a good way to prevent this? And how to go about cleaning them up without actually getting them wet and freezing the poor little things?

Thank you!

I'd get feeders that they can not get into. Are you feeding them a fermented or moistened diet?

Yes, I am. Perhaps I need one of those feeders with the little holes in it for them to peck through, but that might be a nightmare with wet food, haha.
