Just read this thread and I'm astounded. I had a dozen farmer's market eggs in the fridge and I checked -- one was definitely fertile and one was a maybe. Since I just got my 'bator today, and I'm therefore (obviously) excitedly chomping at the bit for chicks, I was sooooooo tempted to toss them in and see how they would do. But hubby wants "identifiable" chickens, not just mutts, so he wants me to purchase eggs instead. Plus the kids really want to see them hatch and I don't want to disappoint them with low-probability eggs. <sigh>...waiting again!

I ended up having a really bad hatch.. Only 5 have survived out of the 18 that I set.
But.. All of the eggs were fertile, including 5 out of the fridge.. All but one of these developed pretty close to hatching. I had a fridge chick for about 6 days, but it died. I don't think it had anything to do with the egg being refridgerated.
