Their quiet now. I added more marbles and i woundnt adopt a hen due to the disease it can carry into my flock. I have more chicks coming in the spring. All these chicks i have now will be dinner in a few months. Since their males.

That's depressing

I couldn't fathom eating the roo that accidently got into my order. Must be a lot of guilt eating something you raised

Actually it is the opposite for me. I would prefer to eat something I have raised that way I know exactly what has been put into and how it has been handled.

Ive processed my own roos before i dont get attached to them. I dont need 4 males either. It was eggs i bought not actual chicks. Out of 9 eggs 3 only hatched.

I never wanted kids!! I hear peeping again!!

Then why did you get them? They are little babies, THEY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER.

Ive had chicks before and they were never like these ones.

Why Do You Have Chickens Sounds Like You Are Doing What Everybody Else Could Be You Shount Have Chickekens

I just introduced my two Welsummers to the great outdoors for this very reason. They're fully feathered and about 5-6 weeks old. Their first night out was in 30F weather and they did just fine even with no added heat. (I did cover their little coop with doubled over blue tarp, but no real heat). I made the decision after reading and asking in the "20 year" thread in the management forum. Great stuff there.

One of them even peeped loudly in her sleep. She peeped for food, peeped for water, peeped herself to sleep, and kept right on peeping in her sleep, peeped when she woke up..... They were the worst ever about dumping their food and water. It was a real chore keeping up with them! My first batch of chicks was two Ameraucanas, one BA, and one white silkie and they were fine, hardly any peeping and hardly any mess, even less poop combined than just the two WS. Even the two 8wk old pullets (BO and Red Comet) I got (my very first chickens) didn't make a lot of noise.

I'm going later on today or tomorrow to get some Black Australorps. I might take my chances and grab a couple of WS's again bc they lay pretty eggs..... hmmm, maybe not.

I think you'd be fine to put them out now as long as they have their feathers. Mine are doing a lot better now. The peeper has enough to occupy her little brain so she isn't as frantic. And they don't spill as much now either, go figure.
