I've never seen anything like this!!!😲😲

I've never had a chicken lay an egg-within-an-egg, but one of my runner ducks laid one a couple of years ago. I was so fascinated that I blew out the shells and saved them, one inside the other, like I found them. They are displayed in a jar on one of my bookcases.
 
This is interesting! According to the article they are associated with thunderstorms and we've had some bad weather recently.
Thunderstorms, a predator scare while laying, any stress that could interrupt or scare them while laying. Sometimes those things can cause them to pop it out early.
