Since depluming mites give live birth shouldn't pour on Ivermectin require only one treatment? I can see why more treatment would be needed if these mites laid eggs which would hatch out later, but everything I've read (that seems legitimate) says these mites give live birth.......

Because the mites burrow into the skin and feather shafts, it can take more than one treatment to make sure that all of them are gone. If only one treatment is done, and any mites survive, they will just make more. Treating and not getting them all can result in mites that are resistant to the medication.

Make sure that the dosage is adequate as well. A lot of links recommend drops which can vary in size and be confusing. The usual dosage if using the ivermectin pour-on 5 mg per ml is 0.05 ml per pound (or 0.1 ml per every 2 pounds of weight) applied to the back of the neck over the spine. Repeat in 10-14 days.
