just wondering if Ivermectin can be used like a flea dip? my banty cochin house hen has lice- dark spots running around- gave her a bath in dawn which is what tipped me off-

I'm thinking that maybe a little extreme since we are to put just a few drops on their necks. There are products out there that are to be used as dips, maybe try one of them.

I agree. An average size adult chicken is only supposed to get 5 drops so dipping is probably going to kill more than the lice

Ivomec or Ivermectin pour-on is meant to be used in very small quantities. Dousing chickens with a solution of it might be too much.
But ---- Ivomec makes a product called Eprinex which I think can be mixed with water and sprayed on like a mist. Google it and see if there is more about it. I was just looking at it in the feed store today and didn't read the label carefully.

Is it oil based? If not, maybe it could be diluted and sprayed in a mist bottle instead of using drops from a syringe? When I use Ivomec, I use a glass eye-dropper instead of a syringe; that might also work for Eprinex.

Eprinex pour on is what I use and it is VERY viscous. It ruined about 10 of my 1cc syringes to treat a flock of about 80 once.

Eprinex is not meant to be diluted and sprayed...it is a pour on. Diluting it would make it ineffective.

ok, i just went with the drops- and while i was at it, did the layers too- this poor little cochin was just totally infested! so since she is a house chicken, shifted her to a metal cage rather than her wooden hutch...not at pretty but if it keeps her healthy thats what matters
