Permethrin 10% liquid concentrate can be sprayed inside the coop, it has a 28 day residual effect

nooooooooooooo, The 10% doesn't do the job like the 13.3%.
I read a technical paper about the 10 vs 13.3.
The 10% was recommended for "in ground" application. The 13.3 for "above ground" AKA crawling /flying bugs. I"ll post it if i come a cross it again.

It seems an expensive way of treating for mites when permethrin is cheap, easy and effective with no egg withdrawral period.

Yes, but the OP was asking about mites, not depluming mites.

Wife and I ran cattle up until about ten years ago and we had more Ivermectin splashed, spilled on us that if it was going to hurt us we would have been dead long years ago. No more than your chickens are getting it will not be enough to hurt you (unless like any and everything you as individual might be allergic to it so check the side effects).
