Hi. For general application with no known parasite problems, how often should this product be used on chickens? I last applied sometime last fall - there were no known problems then either...

Thanks.

(What got me thinking about it is that my hen's comb is looking a little pale - she is completely asymptomatic otherwise - great appetite, energy, attitude, perfect eggs, poops to beat the band, etc. He roo buddy's comb is a nice bright red. Maybe I'm hallucinating but I could swear hers has paled compared to its normal color...)

I use it on all my birds every 6 months. Plus any new birds I buy or bring in gets a dose then they get another dose in 10 days. Then it's once every 6 months. The stuff works great and it's so easy to use.

ok, I know this is a stupid question but is it given on their food or force fed?
As far as the paling comb...try putting some olive oil on some bread as a treat. It will turn amazingly red...something to do possibly with the crop? See Speckled Hen's posts.

ozark, your question is not stupid at all - it's a good question!

The Ivomec Eprinex "pour on" is placed on their skin low on the back of their necks (so they can't access it). The amount of .25cc (cc being same as ml) for a ~ 5.5 pound bird (it's .5cc for a very large bird twice that size) is the dose quoted above and the one I've read elsewhere here on BYC. It's a very small amount.

It's supposed to get most parasites (tho not tapeworm) - I seem to recall googling it to get more info....
