UPDATE: Day 117 (about 16.7 weeks, or a little over 3 1/2 months)
I haven't posted updates at all recently, and you will be amazed at how much Ivory has grown since the last time I posted an update!
He's really filling out to be a big, grown-up rooster and I'm so proud!
He's still getting the crowing thing down, but he crows almost all the time now (probably so proud of himself and wants to share it with the world.
) My mom finds it a little annoying, but I think it's adorable and it makes me so happy to come home and hear him crowing to greet me.
Also, Ivory has been adjusting very well to the outside life in his coop and mini-run. And did I mention he's now living with his own chicken family?
Well, he's sharing his coop with three little chicks and their mother hen! When the chicks grow up, they will be his hens in his own flock. He's still kinda afraid of the tiny little fluff balls, and he is afraid of Pumpkin, their mother, because she attacks him if he even goes near any of her babies.
But overall they seem to be doing fine and Ivory seems happy to be able to spend almost all day out in his own little run.
Here are some pictures!!!
(taken today)
And here's his coop! I paid for it myself (cost me around $140
) and helped build a lot of it with my stepfather...We still need to paint it (we primed it so far) and eventually will build a larger run...The one he has now is only temporary so he is able to at least spend a lot of his time outside and it keeps him from wondering off somewhere.
