When my pullets were tiny, i used to whistle a tune called "Rocky Top" when I would feed or water them. Any time I go out the door with treats, I whistle that song and from 220 ft away, they will hear it and come running to the gate of their run. Three weeks ago, and last week and just today, I did so and each time after giving them their treats, I went into the coop to find one or two dedicated chooks sitting on from 1 to 5 eggs. I was surprised to find that they would do that when they know that sound means treats. I was even more surprised to find that it was not a fluke, but is a behavior that they will repeat. Who Knew???
