I LUV Guava Pastries !!! Aside from the "banana tree", hardly any of you northerners will ever taste the delights of "guava pastries" or for that matter, "Mango Pie". Yankees moving south have brought all their favorite recipes with them, but for some reason, guava and mango delicasies have hardly moved north of Palm Beach County. Pity........Pop

Agreed. I have been known to beg the OP to ship me some guava pastries.

Y'all just remember - with banana trees comes banana spiders.

You are lucky, my flock of 18 hens have completely mowed down all of my banana trees. I thought that the bananas would be good for shade, but after two years -no more bananas. These were up up 16ft tall, the little devils just pecked through them one by one. I just left them where they fell and after a couple of months the girls had shredded the trunks into nothing.

Chickens eat the bananas skin and all, three days ago a neighbor gave me a stalk of ripe ones that weighed about 40 lbs, well " it ain't there no more."

Well I have two areas with banana trees. Probably around 20 to 30 trees, right now I have 6 to 8 huge heads of bananas growing. Yes the chickens love them and they love to scratch and hang out underneath them. (Which is probalby why they decided to lay in the grove)

Since I live in the south, I have a mango tree, carambola tree(starfruit) and a loquat tree. The chickens get all the leftovers.

With all that I still have issues, not with banana spiders, but with iguanas. They are all over the place and they eat everything.

I let you know about the jail sentence and the egg laying...
