Jake, caught on video on couch - Part Due

What a cutie fuzzy sweet face he has. And Jake too. Makes you want to just smother him with sloppy kisses. Jake I mean.

Smart dog. I think at the beginning, when you first posted about this war of wills, several gave you advice to bow to the inevitable because Jake was going to win.

Ta-da!

On tuesday I have algebra class, so I dont get home till late. Girl child informed me when she got home she found giant killer attack german shephard sprawled across my just removed from the closet and cleaned for the winter duvet on my queen size bed.

I tried the turning the cushions over thing- dang dog learned to pull them back down. UUUGGGGHHHH

Ok, no suicide, I will make them suffer. They may kill me though.

Its the name, Jake. My only living son is named Jake. He is rather sneaky when I am not looking too.

I used old-fashioned snap trap mouse traps, set and positioned upside down on the kitchen counters to keep the doberman off the kitchen counters. With two little boys at the time, and all their buddies, dog hair on the couch was the least of it.
Dog had her bedtime routine. She lay all nice and asleep on her dog bed in the living room while we adults watched tv after the boys were in bed. After we went to bed, and we were really quiet for about ten minutes, click-click-click, we could hear her toenails clicking down the hall and into DS 's room and hop on his bed. In the morning, our alarm would go off, and click-click-click, dog back in the dog bed. Later as DS grew this was quite a sight: twin bed, six foot tall teen, large doberman hogging the whole bed with teen squished on the side...loved that dog.

Awwwww... Jake IS a good dog! How can you resist that sweet face?

I read once that dogs understand power and position. If they see you as alpha, then when you leave they will take your seat, the seat of power, until you return. Like if you leave them in the car while you bop into the store (during good, non-hot weather only of course), you often come out to find them in the driver's seat. Makes sense in a weird dog psychology sort of way. Or it could just be a bunch of hooie and Jake like the sofa because it is softer than the floor. Either way...
