I’ve got four eggs supposedly due on the 8th-9th of January.
They are under my very broody RIR X Bantam Cochin X Buff Brahma mixed pullet. Three are random standard sized eggs, and one is a bantam Cochin egg.

Most of my already hatched eggs were small Lavender orpington/easter egger mixed chicks. My 2 big eggs were blue bell egger mixes. One of my big eggs is taking it's time.

Happy New Year, fellow hatching enthusiasts!

First candling today. OE eggs are looking good, a couple of possible blood rings but left in until the next candling. BCM eggs also looking good overall, removed a few clears, but the rest were too dark to tell at this point if there were any early quitters, so left in until the next candling. 2 weeks and counting to hatch day.

I try and leave the blood rings in until the second candle, or at least till day 5-7. Some times veins come in stronger than others.

I haven't been candling a lot my last hatches. And I am getting good hatches too.

Eggs are due in a week! Three are very alive, but we had one dud out of the four.

I'm going to wait a couple more day's before I do my 1st candle on these 16 Bielefelder egg's.
