JAN 28th HATCH!!! Who's with me?!?

Awesome on the hatching. I candle my twenty today. I am only sure of 11 developing. Some I am not real sure about. Will check again in a couple of days. I have a Broodie Pullet that is mean. I might give her some of the eggs when I go into lock down for her to hatch. Any suggestions on best way to do this. Then she can keep them warm and look after them.

Green Goddess: In my original post on this thread I stated that my last hatch only 1 hatched out of 24, not that my recent set is due to hatch the 24th. Mine were set the same day as yours and due to hatch the 28th. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I should have worded it differently. I did candle and culled 2 EE's tonight as they were none fertiles. Only one other one iffy at this point. Looks good and good luck to everybody experiencing the 21 day wait.

Chick # 8 just hatched out! this makes #6 from Group 3 ... this particular group only has 4 more eggs to go! Still waiting on the rest of Group 2 (4 more eggs) and Group 1 (10 more eggs).....

I couldn't wIt so candledthe light ones tonight again and saw veins !!! That's the first time I've seen em!!
However they were only in two. Poop.
I can't see a thing in the marans eggs so only looked at two.
At least I'm hopeful I'll get a few now!! And hey maybe more. They all seemed darker at the top and cleared at the bottom but none were totally clear so that's good.​

What are you hatching? Just Marans?

I have a dozen mixed pretty colors (pink, blue and greens) and the dozen BCMs. They were all shipped so it's a crap shoot of course two of the colorful eggs are cracked so they are prolly shot. We shall see I guess!
My flock are on winter hiatus so this gives. Me sumthin to do!!

Can I join the egg train?

I got 6 eggs from another BYC user. I put them under a broody and made a special nesthouse for her in our greenhouse. I set them under her on January 8th. I am not only a newbie chicken owner but new to hatching. I can see where it would be addictive

What a fantastic sticky on candling eggs with all the photos. I've taken a peak at all the eggs tonight (she's a very sweet broody and first timer). I noticed that two of them had no veins. So I should assume that those two would be no good right? I'm just going to leave them all under her and let nature do it's thing. Also, I'll try not to touch them again, since I don't want to mess anything up!

But how in the world do you handle the wait????? It's killing me!

Well I couldn't wait any longer I candle my dozen today and 11 out of the 12 look good. Now alls I gotta do isw wait and wait and wait.
