Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

400

Here is one of my white eggs on day 6. It's moving fine, but worried that it's just on one lateral side. I've seen photos of embryos on the fat side is normal, but it's like it's only growing on half the egg. It's still early, but I'm concerned because I feel my turner wasn't working (only turning to one side). I have been turning them manually since day 4, and now added four different shapes to turn them to daily. Any suggestions?

Looks fine to me. They start out only covering 1 side of the shell & then expand around as they grow. You should notice the embryo is on whichever side of the shell was facing up last. It will slowly shift around the shell after turned.

Wow all pf you guys are very lucky and cute pics of those baby chicks. Mine are not set to hatch until feb 19-20 if im correct. My silkie has gone broody and she has four eggs. Two are from a light splash silkie roo and a white silkie showgirl with beard. The other two eggs are from same roo but a partridge silkie hen. ANYWAYS GOOD LUCK ON YOUR HATCHES!!!!

Ok, I think I have a stuck embryo. No floating at all. Do I still have a chance? It's moving luckily :/ Thanks for your comment.

It still has a chance. Keep turning.

First incubator for me, Genesis Hovabator 1588. Temp at 100 for 20 days, have learned so much on this hatch site, but now seeing the temp should have been higher. About how much longer will it take the chicks to hatch?? still air.
That is the incubator I use. The temp is a little lowon yours and that will add some time. My first hatch in the 1588 lasted 3 extra days. I also ran my temps a little on the low side. I also found that some eggs developed faster than others because there was hot spots from not having a fan. I solved that problem by adding a PC fan.

Update on my Hatch:

The second night my eggs were set, our breaker box fried. Landlord said he couldn't get it fix until Friday. I headed to my parents and got their 4000 watt generator. So my eggs got cold for about 4 hours. Lowest temp reading in the incubator was 68.

Good Morning, I am on day 11 of my first hatch. I candled all 23 eggs last night. One was clear and one had the bacteria ring and no veining. I took them out. The rest of the eggs are moving and developing. Temperature seems steady between 99 and 100. Humidity always jumps for an hour after I add water and the sponge, then settles in the 40-45% range. I agree with my four year old that this is taking FOREVER! Can’t wait til valentine’s day. When I go on lockdown in a week, should I try to put something in-between the eggs so they won’t knock into each other?

I don't imagine what they go thru under a mama....I think it's all part of them encouraging each other

all the new babies !! Love to see those pips and zips!!

I have one lonely chick left from the three that made it out over the weekend, got in touch with a lady who always seems to have broody hens, has one that's been sitting on a golf ball for two weeks because she was unable to get fertile eggs from her supplier.. She coming to pick up the chick this evening to slide under the determined broody! So happy it will not be lonely and have a momma to care for it. she offered me a few chicks from a hen set to hatch this weekend, but I decided I didn't want to take babies from a momma, this works best

Saving eggs to set another batch this weekend, moved the incubator back into the spare room where the room temp can be better stabilized...Got to get this down before I get the call the Turkey eggs are ready
