Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

Hello to you..........:D
The answer from this coop is yes.they sometimes help.
The first time I witnessed this. I thought she was trying to kill it......................
but she was just pulling some of the shell off............
Good Luck

Thanks its because my partridge silkie hen should hatch her eggs in about 9 to 12 days.

Here she is!

Good Morning,
7 out this morning.......
big_smile.png

Really odd hatch...After lockdown was running 70 humidity on one side of the incubator..40 on the other........
Temp kept creeping up to 103.................grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Discovered the humidity problem was because the cord was stuck slightly holding the back side of the bator up......
Corrected that.was about two days with this issue...........Thought.crap.not going to get a hatch.
Now they are popping out like popcorn.no muss, no fuss...................just pip.zip and out............
All the chicks so far are healthy and without foot problems...........
I guess if they want to hatch.they will...

I do know the parents are in good health....wonder really how much this has an affect.
and how much this plays into shipped eggs that don't hatch??????????
These are all eggs from my layers..........
Makes a huge difference..shipped, or your own layers. Lucky!

Quote: I'm sorry that happened... I can only say good things about Lark Rise. The eggs were well packed, the egg color was excellent, and all the chicks that hatched were really healthy and vigorous. They were hatching like popcorn on day 20.

your hatching eggs are automatically insured through USPS, if that's who ships them, up to 50.00...super easy to make a claim....take a picture of the inside of the box when you open it and any mess from broken eggs...upload them to the usps site where you file your claim and you'll get a check within a few weeks

she's partridge?
Looks like gold in hackles & tail so she would be considered a dark partridge.

OMG Deanna I have a cockerel inside on my lap he's in the ICU for another day or so, he watched your video and heard them and got soooo interested in the screen! I have never seen him do that before lol too funny!! He hurt his leg yesterday :( going to get some TLC for a while. it is really warm in the house for him since its been snowing outside, I don't think he likes 75F!

Final Faverolle count, 3 of 7

one died last night part-way out of the shell, trying to figure out what happened/why
hit.gif
I was already counting this one as hatched....

one died in the shell after pipping internally, it was HUGE for the shell and never externally pipped. also this was the hardest shell I have EVER broken open. it was so incredibly thick/hard....

one died without internally pipping, not sure what happened there
one died around day 16, it is the one who always looked behind/malpositioned.

so 3 total... 2 girls 1 boy.
it would have been 4 girls 2 boys who made it to full term. I will admit I cried over dead chicks this time. I don't know why sometimes it hits you so hard when you find them dead. I know I did everything I could do, but somehow I still feel a twinge of guilt over the loss.
So sorry Farmer...
