Heidisgran, I would love to file a claim with the USPS but...
The eggs all came to me in one piece (albeit with detached aircells) and they were NOT labeled as hatching eggs ANYWHERE on the box, nor with a "do not xray", or a "this end up" or ANYTHING but a poorly written "fragile" label, so they wouldn't have known to treat them any different. They eggs were individually wrapped in bubble wrap, then layed on their sides (!?) in a loose bag made out of taped bubble wrap and the surrounded by newspaper, not very tightly packed. They were loose enough they could easily shake around in the box about a cm in either direction, but not so loose they could bump into each other so they arrived in one piece.
So it's not the fault of USPS... It's the fault of the shipper. The USPS couldn't know they were shipping hatching eggs since they weren't labeled as such, nor to keep the box facing a certain way... And since the eggs were all on their sides it wouldn't have made a difference if they kept it properly oriented or not.
