I want babies.
Also we have three broodys. A red decided today omg two silkies and a red.

HI,
The eggs are fine...If they were clear at this point, then they would not hatch................
Seeing black is good........................and your decision to not candle was good also.........
Handling them at this point is a no no..............they are trying to get in position to hatch.........As hard as I know it is, the big lesson is trust your broody

She really needs to be left to do her job............As far as hearing chirps, it's a little early......and sometimes they just decide to hatch
without making a sound............. Everything is fine....try to stay busy....I clean house...........

you poor little thing...I feel your stress!!!

with broodies there is a period of time in the first week that they don't sit regularly while they "gather their clutch", even though you may have given her the eggs she still has a built in timer that would most likely keep her on a broody hen schedule....sooooo.....she's not on your 21 day schedule you could be days apart

if she's sitting on the eggs still then try not to worry....she'll leave them if they don't hatch by her built in schedule....I've known them to remove duds themselves...

every time you remove an egg to look at it it cools which could also delay the hatch some....that isn't as big of a problem in the first weeks....as chickydee pointed out, the chick is getting into postion at this point, it has to position itself to internally pip the air cell in the correct spot...the part that dips..so it can breath.

so sit on your hands and breath in breath out breath in breath out!!
