Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I just put Black Copper Marans, Cream Legbar, and Rhode Island Reds in the bator last night. On Sunday, in the second bator, I will put in Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Ameraucanas and lavender orpingtons. First hatch of the year for me. Count down begins, tick tock tick tock.

The RIR's were shipped eggs. They were shipped during the polar vortex weather most of us had. The seller did have a heat pack in the box.. Fingers crossed.

So glad you joined us!!! That sounds like a lot of eggs, how many total?

Yes, if you are seeing air sacs, great sign! Now let mama do her job. You don't want to take the eggs out very often. Boy, that waiting is a tough thing to do. Can't wait to see mama and chick pictures. Love them!

Good luck to you. Oh, I can hear the clock ticking, it sounds soo sloow.

GA? I have a son in GA for about 9 more months. He's in Powder Springs right now. He loves the beauty of the state. I used to live in Florida..Fernandina Beach, so we would drive through GA. once in a while on our way to Virginia. Beautiful state.

Ok... so I candled and the air cells are still a little wiggly but I have been turning in the cartons. It looks like the veins are around the air cell and the embryos are stuck either under the air cell (I can't see them) or right next to it. They don't move when I move the egg. They sat fat end up for 3 and a half days all together (24 hours before incubation and another 36 hours after I put them in because the air cells were still detached.) Could it be possible that because they sat without turning for so long the yolk got stuck to the membrane? If so what are the dangers of this? A couple of the embryos look like quitters while some of the others I have seen moving. This is all new to me since this is only my second hatch and my first hatch was easy and successful. Maybe I just got lucky my first hatch. Any help from some experienced hatchers would be super awesome.

someone was asking how long until you can tell if the chick is frizzled...this is a cross between my frizzled cochin and phoenix roo...she's 1 and a half weeks
little beauty isn't she?
