Incubator is running stable (its only had eggs in it since 1pm today) but I am very satisfied and not so freaked out.. Temp is holding at between 100-101 and humidity is staying at 44% with no water... Not going to stress about that because last time I put water in like it told me and I had a hard time getting it below 55-60 decided to do a dry hatch this time around and will adjust water during lockdown. Of course if it drops below 40 I may add a bit of water, wait a bit and see what it does, but like I said, much more relaxed about this...Got 21 days left

To add, the real test is going to be next weekend when the grandsons come stay with us while Mommy and Daddy get a much needed vacation before new baby arrives...gonna be interesting to see how they do, last time I had the incubator locked away in the spare room, this time around the spare room is actually a spare room (they call it their bedroom) so there was no way I was putting it there...

Hatching seems to be quite the roller coaster ride. I have 16 days left for my seven marans.

Last hatch, I trusted the incubator and got one early and the rest were duds. Now, I have a back-up thermometer/hygrometer and when the two disagree, I panic. I will probably get a back-up back-up thermometer/hygrometer after this hatch. Wonder how I will fit it in that tiny incubator.

I have 5 that I contantly compare. I even looked up the best batteries and ordered them online. Made a huge difference.

Do you have a still air? 101 is getting up there. Still air could be ok after the eggs have been in for a week or more, still a bit high then even for a still air. If fan, you really need to get it down. I have a still air..have it at 99, sometimes it will hit 100 if the room is warmer, but going back and forth is ok. Your humidity sounds right. I like it around mid 30's low 40's. I used to think letting the water run out was ok, have been reading that it can cause head deformities..guess who had some head deformities this past fall? Yep, me. Now I keep water in there. It helps keep the air sac develop at the right size. The reason why you have 44 percent right now, is because all of the humidity in the eggs is going out. When it starts going down, you may want to put some water in there.

101 is for a still air incubator, if you have a forced air (fan inside) it should be at 99.5F
humidity should be anywhere from 25-45% so not to worry if it goes below 40

My last hatch I kept it at between 100-101.5, Hatched out 20 of 23 that made it to lockdown. I have the still air and by what I have seen on here that's a normal temp.. and yes, the humidity dropped to 35% so I added a sponge, its back up to 43% If it goes down again I will add a bit of water, not much at a time and see where it stabilizes at

My only concern is that the bator is in my living room now, not drafty by any means but our only heat source is the wood stove... I'll be watching it and if it changes I'll move it to our room where I can regulate the temp in the room better with a small space heater we keep in our bathroom.

Oooh yes... we also have a wood stove as our house heat source It's great for warming up the eggs before they go into the bator, my living room is 80F!
I keep my incubator in the bedroom... it stays about 70F in there.
