Hubby went out and said there are either eight or nine!!! I'm alittle worried as she has never been able to raise more than seven and although we have brought the runts in and tried we always lose them.....I'm going to go out tomorrow and hopefully she will allow me to take them out and look them all over real good....She is an excellent Momma but the first couple days she is so wiggy on us touching them ... And as soon as she mellows a bit I'll get pics

Well my last hatch was a little upsetting for me. I had put 48 eggs in on day one by day 18 I had 25 moving eggs, but only 10 hatched. Something went wrong.

This time I put 47 and am at day 10, only have 18 left. Which is okay since most were clear or early quitter.
Now I am worried. Need to get at least 75%.

Well I might as well jump in somewhere! Currently doing my first hatch. After a coyote got all but one of my laying hens a few weeks ago,I decided to try hatching some eggs from my remaining barred rock rooster and buff orpington hen. I put 14 in on 1/15. They were laid over 16 days (14 eggs in 16 days in the dead of winter...not too shabby!) So I counted on a few being too old. We are at 7 days now and 10 candle great! 4 are clear. The good ones are flopping around like little fish in there. It's so cool! I also have a bunch of Wheaton marans in that I'm hatching for the friend who is letting me borrow an incubator. Can't see a thing in there!

I also have rabbits due on February 3. Not a newbie there, but I just got into them again after taking a break for college, so I'm excited about these litters! I have three does due through February. It's baby season!

Just got home from work and my lastpart of the staggered hatch ibset has started I have 19 hatched out of 36 so far and all the eggs unhatched have external pips so first part I got 9 out of 10 or 90 % hatch rate and the second batch I'm already over 50% and counting I love incubating now for sure ready to start my next set of eggs I know for sure I'mdoing EEs polish and a couple silkies but now iI've been eye balling some phoenix eggsiI can get for 10 dollars a dozen locally so woohoo

Welcome! Jumping in is the best way. Sorry to hear about the coyote. We have had 3 foxes in the last 2 weeks. But luckily, our Pyrenees takes care of them. So you should be hatching about the 5th?

Yes, the 5th and 6th. I added the marans eggs a day later and will split the difference in lockdown.

I have rabbits too but am new on it. I don't know if my female is pregnant. She has grown in the last few weeks. I separated her from the male 3 weeks ago. Put a nest in and waiting. The thing is I don't know how long I wait. Lol
