be sure to candle the pointy end look for clear end- if so too much water don't lock down yet- I lock down at outer pi- then I know they didn't drown.

They all look dark and solid at the bottom of the eggs.. there is just a bit of liquid at the top that is still clear. I could see toes moving around in one.. so cute! its just the air cell seems to small. what is outer pi- ? I don't want to add water if it is going to drown them but then I don't want to make them get stuck if the humidity is to low.. maybe add water on day 20 instead of today (day 18) ? (or if they pip sooner)

I would candle them on day 18, 19, 20, etc - look for an internal pip, and when you see an internal pip, then increase the humidity and begin lockdown (do not open the incubator, it will cause a sudden loss of humidity). "Normally" internal pips should happen on day 19.... this is when you hear cheeping but see nothing on the outside.

I got an external pip this morning, and chirping. The bad news is that I've had trouble with the humidity level being too low (between 41 and 54%. This morning I was finally able to fix that... But I hope the pipped chick isn't stuck! I just didn't expect a pip on day 19. That's never happened before. I plan to help it out if it's not out by early tomorrow morning or late tonight. The rest of the eggs aren't doing anything yet.
The pipped chick is the one egg that had a clear cavity on one side of the small end. It did fill in some by lockdown.

you'll be fine..I've had them hatch at 25% in the egg turner because they were early

I was upstairs and decided to check on the chicks- and one of the blue marans had squeezed itself between the wire and the box was dangling by belly and fuzz- had to cut up my box to get her she is okay (see tiny hole at top left?)

I have the light under the wire and a blanky on top they are clever little buggers why they have to test it I don't know.

I was upstairs and decided to check on the chicks- and one of the blue marans had squeezed itself between the wire and the box was dangling by belly and fuzz- had to cut up my box to get her she is okay (see tiny hole at top left?) I have the light under the wire and a blanky on top they are clever little buggers why they have to test it I don't know.

The way you have your light set is very dangerous to the chicks & is a fire hazzard. It would be much better to place the lamp on top of the wire or hang it above the box.
