Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

That's what I worry about- the struggling. I really like using the cartons to turn the eggs before lockdown though. Maybe I can find a jumbo carton before lockdown!

I use a 3/4 inch PVC pipe under the carton. Strapped in with rubber bands. Makes turning super easy and fast. 30 degree tilt too!!!

My friend hatched 12 of my eggs. 1 got glued to the shell during zipping and didn't make it. All of the rest are great. They are now about 6 weeks and it looks like only 2 boys.

She just hatched another batch and only one of my eggs didn't hatch. I hope they are mostly hens again. That would be so great if the magic hen mojo is in my flock. There are 3 Blue Copper Marans. I am so excited to see how they turn out. Has anyone ever consistently hatched mostly boys or mostly girls?

Max made it thru thenight and came in this morning when I fed the others. He is so proud of himself for being a grown turkey and came right in for breakfast. Just like a teenager.
I used you as leverage yesterday. I asked my hubby if I could have a house turkey, and he said absolutely not. Then I told him about you, and asked if I could MAYBE just have a house CHICKEN?! he's considering it. :)

7/10 of my hatch due today are hatched and healthy! The remaining three are pipped. One is pipped at the wrong end and has been since last night with no progress, but I can see the beak and it's moving so I'm not worried (too much) yet. Still have the livestream going! It's been on the brooder most of the day until there's a hatch happening. http://ustre.am/19TQv

I know what you mean! To help myself cope with the stress, I downloaded those temp and egg charts on the learning center Hatching 101. I like it because I can be obsessed with the eggs without touching them so much! I candled nearly every day until lockdown the first go-round, but this time, I am only candling on days 7, 14, and just before lockdown. We'll see if I can do it anyway!

I have a rooster that looks just like your avatar. What breed is he?

I take mine out of the carton at lock down. Mine fight so hard to get out, then fall back in and get glued to the shell.

You can order diapers online. They have liners in the poopy pouch.

Max has tried everything to stay in the house today. I still kicked him out after he got in trouble. It's the first time he fought it. He came right in this evening and has been letting give him lots of hugs. He is back in his spot.
