Jan./Feb. 2014 hatch a long

I'm hearing chirps in my bator. Can't see a pip yet, but it's loud. Wondering if it's pipped on the side I can't see, or close to the bottom. Glad their is some action going on though. :) EE's and Olive Eggers.
I bought some wooden skewers about 10 or 12 inches long and use them to turn eggs
through the vent holes when in lock down....Has really helped me.....Once I helped pop the top
off an egg with them..it was zipped but seemed stuck..........Good Luck

You're right, Arlo does look like he is crossed with one of those two. I've thought his hen was Wheaton but she has black on some feathers too. I'm not too picky about breeds, as my flock started out as a couple of backyard mutts that were at least 4th generation of backyard mutts.. But it's fun to try and pick out what breeds they could be. Thank you for the link! Very useful!

I love to try and figure out where mine came from but it doesn't really matter. They are all so sweet.

Max is sure to attract a nice mate for himself. He's so good looking and got a great personality! It really makes me miss my female turkey, Lulu. She wasn't a house turkey, but she was friendly. She loved head rubs!
Max has been such a great pet. I paniced the other day when I came home and couldn't find him.

I'm so hungry
Cute.

Good Morning,

Checking in now because I am not sure how long we may have electricity.
We have a blizzard warning.............Good Grief, I thought we had made it past bad weather this year.
I had a violet bloom about a week ago and buds on the roses.......
Do not need to tell you I am frantic with fear about my eggs and some month old chicks.
We do have a fire place............ Also a full basement....maybe that would stay warm enough
for the older chicks.............

Good luck to everyone hatching...............and big hugs to anyone that lost chicks...............

One more thing, Deanna, Thank you for the great laugh I got from Max's ad this morning......
I really needed that.......He is soooooooooooooo handsome............

Max likes to cheer everyone up.

I am a single Red Bourbon tom looking for his forever hen. Somewhere in the area of Tuscaloosa or Bessemer. I am 5 months old, I like older hens as well as younger. I enjoy chasing the guineas, hanging with the chickens and watching TV from 2" away from the screen. My favorite foods are chocolate ice cream, all pizza, vienna weenies and my dinosaur gummi vitamins. If you are my mate, you will never become anyones dinner. Must be healthy. No TTDs (turkey transmitted diseases). Friendly disposition is a must.

Max has had a reasponse to his add! There is possibly a lonely female Spanish Black hen. Not positive if she is still available. Waiting to hear back. Max is practicing his gobble in Spanish just in case.

Learned my lesson this week. GET A BACK UP THERMO/HYGROMETER.. Eggs were behind in development on day 21. A few hatched on day 23 then again on day 25 and 26. Most of the ones that hatched on day 25 and 26 were deformed and had to be culled. Out of 5 dozen eggs, 11 healthy fuzzy butts.

Went yesterday to get 2 new thermo/hygrometers the incubator was 10 DEGREES LOW. Humidity seemed correct.
So in go 4 more dozen on Saturday. this time I'm doing crested cream legbars. Fingers crossed for a better hatch cuz culling baby chicks always makes me cry my eyes out.

turkeys are more interested in showing off then girls. I had a Tom that loved- but may not have been in love with a little bantam hen. they would stand and eat she would stand between his legs and eat, he would lose it if any hen was mean to her.
