Janoel 12 incubator help!!

I purchased a janoel 12 incubator.. I have no idea what to do with it as ive never hatched eggs before... And the directions that came with it are very hard to understand.
I'm hatching duck eggs. Pekin/rouen i believe.
I just went into lockdown using a Janoel 12 for the first time. I followed this kids instructions. I bought a cheap hygrometer off Amazon. Just watch his video and he'll explain it all. Good luck!!

Just looking for some help.

i just got the same one....played with it a little today as my eggs are due to arrive wednesday. if you press the set button and use +/- buttons to scroll through it will give you the menu for settings. I am planning to look up more info but was able to set humidity in that menu. I also purchased a separate hygrometer unit to give me temp readings in F and actual humidity during incubation to double check accuracy of the unit. Are you joining in on the hatch-a-long?
Let me know. I have mine in the basement and have no idea what I'm doing. lol. I have never hatched eggs before. I have a hygrometer, but its not digital.

Couple things bad about putting it in the basement.

1st. Better to put it where it's easier to monitor, I check mine at least twice a day. Things go wrong, and if you correct it quickly then you can save your batch.

2nd. The heaters on those things typically are not designed to overcome a very cold environment. So it will struggle to maintain a stable temp which is key to a good hatch. Also if you bundle it up your even less likely to follow suggestion number 1

That hole on the top, just above where it says egg incubator, is the only vent for hot air out. I'm not sure you should cover that hole by putting a towel over it. Just how cold is it in your basement? Is there anyway you can put them upstairs? Did you watch the YouTube video I linked? He's a great source to follow.

Also, you can calibrate your hygrometer so you'll be able to trust your reading. Simple: put a teaspoon of salt in a bottle cap. Add a few drops of water to make it slushy. Put it in a ziplock bag or a clear, see through container with your hygrometer. Leave it for 6 hours on your counter top. Without opening the container, read the hygrometer. It should read 75%. If it doesn't, simpy note by how many degrees it was off. Example: It reads 80% after 6 hours, you just subtract 5 from whatever it's reading while in the incubator to get the actual humidity level.
