Janoel 48 auto incubator vs hova-bator ??

Yes, it does a quick turn to the left and ends up right the whole time. It "turns" every two hours. What I've been doing is twisting them clockwise a few times a day. I haven't used any other thermometers/hydrometer, etc. I've contacted the seller, and they said by my description, that it works properly. Hmm. I'm on day 4, and wondering if I should just let them on their sides and run my hand over them a few times a day. I realize how vested I am with these little guys that I'd hate it to go wrong. Luckily, the incubator has a two year warranty, so I'll see about this clutch, then weigh my options. I paid 220, is that decent? I was willing to pay more for the automated features, and really like how quickly the temp and humidity stabilizes. I like having larger numbers to incubate (30-50).

Thank you for having this thread :)

That might be fine if it is enough to keep the embryos from sticking to the shell. I was worried that the eggs might be on some sort of roller that always spun them in the same direction which would definitely be a problem.

I've been manually turning since day 4. I wouldn't risk it! Starting to get attached to these little guys. I'm happy with everything else about the incubator, just not the turner.

My Dad just ordered one of these for me because I have been having such horrible luck with y hovabators how did your hatch turn out?

They are due today with lots of wobbling and chirping. One hatched early yesterday. Doing great! I'll update by end of this week after everything hatches out. I really like how I don't need to worry about temp. Most always stable. You can even program it to stop heating after it hits a certain temp! Humidity is stable for a few days or longer if you don't lift the lid. Unfortunately I was hand turning, but it jumped to where it needed to be in 1-2 minutes. Alarm for high/low temp and low humidity. Very nice. Next hatch I'll purchase a separate turner, and then it'll really be a no brainer :)

So good to hear I am having horrible luck with the Hovabators

I have this Janoel and a Brinsea Octagon 40 and an OvaEasy 380. The Janoel is NOT a true forced air incubator. The thing is full of cool spots and is so difficult to calibrate. It does have nice features like a limit on the high temp, humidity alarms and such. The hygrometer is inaccurate by a 10% margin. All in all, use for with inexpensive eggs. Was going to use as a hatcher but I hesitate.

Thanks for that. It's nice to hear a true comparison. I've had a very staggered hatch, actually still in progress. One hatched a day early, most on day 22, a couple on day 23, and it's now day 26 with two wobbly/tapping eggs in there. All set the same day. I can't imagine spending hundreds more on a Brinesa, etc...so with the knowledge I have of my hatch, I'll just rotate eggs in different spots in incubator (assuming middle is hottest and sides are coolest). May bump the temp up slightly from 37.5*C to 37.7-8. Hand turning my important eggs, but may experiment with using auto turner for entire time with my mutt eggs. Will keep posting. I think it's important to update results in detail.

Well I just fried all my eggs in this POS. This is the worst incubator ever. I do not recommend.

I can't believe we get taken like that by unscrupulous off shore manufacturers and importers. I see these at $150 now on ebay. What a sham...
