Janoel Incubator

Thanks so much for replying, as Friday gets closer I get more and more stressed lol (I'm even dreaming about it now) I'm just using the janoel incubator for lockdown and hatching as I have another batch of 15 eggs in my automatic king suro at school.

Is it the black device that's like a little box? (the link didn't work) but that's the one I bought and have just popped it in to see how it does before I get to Friday and pop the eggs in. Have had to put the incubatos temp yup to 40 and my little reader is only saying 36.6?? Am I right in thinking I now go by what my little reader says?

I've put Sellotape around the joins on my incubator too because it doesn't seem to sit flush all the way around??

Candelled yesterday and think I'm down to 4 out of the 5 I had last Friday (they're not moving much) Here's hoping for just one little duckling at least, the children will be overjoyed to have a cuddle from their first batch

Also just to check, setting temp about 37c for lockdown and mid 70%s for humidity?

P.s This is the humidity reader I got...

700

700

Fab :) it's much better than going by the incy, at least it tells me what the humidity actually is haha. Can't get it to sit at 37c though, it will only sit steady at 37.1, will that be ok? I'm right in thinking that the temp comes down for hatching yeah?

Argh... lockdown yesterday wemt to 65% humidity.. then dropped frpm evening right through night. Now sitting at 56%. Think my reader is screwed up. No matter how much water I added it only went up by 1 or didnt go up at all.. 2nd day of lockdown so this is not convenient atall..!

Hi there,
I am a little late to this thread but need to ask a question relative to the Janoel 48. There have been some troubles here in the U.S. with counterfeit Janoel incubators being sold. I purchased mine via Amazon through a 3rd party seller. I had some trouble with my unit and contacted the seller. Long story short, it was a waste of time and seller was not cooperative. Amazon stepped up and refunded my money for the unit. Afterwards I started doing some looking around online at other sellers of Janoels. I noticed a few things that seemed odd. My unit did not come in a glossy box with picture of unit on it. Plain brown box with Janoel 48 stamped on it. Also there was no Styrofoam "cozy" with the unit that I have seen pictured with units sold by other sellers. What has been the experience for those of you who purchased this incubator?

Thanks,
Juley

Is this thread dead? I see no one replied to Juley's post nearly a month ago.

I just bought a Janoel 10 and I'm trying to calibrate the temperature on the top. Should I abandon that one and just get the little black one in the pictures above? I tried two different kitchen thermometers (the instant read kind), but they were reading 5 degrees above and 5 degrees below the Janoel's thermometer. :{ My hatching eggs are aging and I need to get them started.

Juley, my Janoel that I bought off Ebay came in a brown box. I paid $55. The instructions had a typo in the title. "MIIN Incubator" instead of "MINI Incubator". Weird.

I had similar trouble calibrating my Janoel. I finally resorted to using a digital thermometer used for checking body temp. I purchased a quick read that is accurate to .2 degrees f. (Walgreens) I drilled a small hole (1/8-3/16 should work) in the side of the incubator that allowed me to insert the thermometer into it at the level of mid point of the eggs. I calibrated using this as I found kitchen and outdoor thermometers to be incredibly inaccurate. I just leave mine there so that I can periodically check it and it keeps hole plugged. Hope this helps.

hi, just bought janoel 96 second hand but instructions an can get humidity down from 80 any advice thanks ,andrew

Andrew,
Is it that it won't read anything less than 80% or is it that you have too much actual humidity in your incubator? If it is the first I would say your electronics are wacked (sorry:-( if it is the second, just keep running incubator it will eventually drop down as water vapor escapes through vents. With this unit I only filled 1 or 2 of the channels to keep it in the 50% range. With that said I will tell you that I eventually quit using this incubator and got something else as the electronics started to degrade and it was not reliable. After doing some research online I found that this is a common problem with this incubator.I had great hopes for it, but it just never was reliable.
