January 1, 2011 Quail Hatch Along

So anybodies eggies wiggling around yet. Kinda like this.

I keep thinking a couple from the last hatch that I put in for fun are. Might be my eyes playing tricks on me, but I bet they pop first before the others, tomorrow. Well that means they were fertile, going to be real small though if they do hatch.

Well. I haven't baked my pies yet, so I quess I will have to behave myself and do it in the morning.

Well, I wanted these to hatch Sat.

But I set the 14th late and mine normally go 17 days so they are really due tomorrow. But I am pretty sure that they are going to hatch when they are ready and not before. That's the only thing I am sure about at this point. Well no, there is always the possibility they won't hatch at all.

Don't like that one.
Like my ducks, still waiting on those little babies.

You have ducklings!!! Mine were supposed to hatch Xmas, nothing. But I have noticed they are spreading out more and moving eggs with them. So they are finally getting ready to start separating ducklings from the eggs that still need to be set. Duck TV is boring most of the time. But very interesting when the Muscovies start to work together to get a hugh hatch done. These nests were set over a one month period, one right after the other. So we will see. I am about to find out if this Drake is fertile, his daddy was and so was his mommy, so he should be.

As for Coturnix, well I think tomorrow I had best be ready and I have to shop in the morning. Good planning hugh. So how about some pics to tide us over. We' have been waiting ever so patiently. Ha, I have been blabbing over on Rozzie's thread. I have to admit it would be a kick if that Red turns out to be a male, though.

Darn! I keep forgetting to call Direct TV about that Duck TV. It's missing from my channel line-up. The closest thing I can find is RFD-TV, and it's pretty lame. Duck TV sounds much more exciting. Maybe I need QUAIL TV.

Ya, I'd say you need quail TV for those boys down stairs and the Buttons to see what they are up to.

Wanting to go broody, are they. They are probably plotting and planning to fill your place with little egg layers, right now. You best keep a close watch on them, before they take over. Just ask Shelley, she'll tell you, its not fun when they start multiplying 10 fold.

Mine aren't exploding, but came back in from chores and there is one more Coturnix in this neck of the woods.

I best get to the store fast. I knew I set those eggs a day early, that's OK.

Here they come. Ready or not.

I take that back, eggs are bouncing all over the place. JJMR tell your babies to quit yelling at my babies to hatch. We want some to hatch this afternoon for the GD. I see a M Gold and I only set the Jumbo Browns.

Oh Rozzie, I am pretty sure that most so far are Females.

They have some big heads.

Even the back row is hatching and that's a first. Normally that is the last row to hatch after the main flush. Well, so much for turning down the temp to slow these Browns down. Ya, I may like small batches after all, unless I am looking for breeders.

OK, now this is a problem. So many are hatching at the same time, they are knocking eggs off the trays. Not the empty shells. Eggs with chicks still in them and they are rocking and rolling trying to get out. Just goes to show how fast I got addicted to using egg trays to hatch.
