Finished the 2nd coop this morning. Peppermint and Chickadee are enjoying the extra space. Too bad they will have to share it soon enough.

Peppermint (9 wks) and Chickadee (10 wks) met the 3 week old chicks today. They seemed curious at first and then they just wandered off and left the 5 chicks on their own. I was really expecting some fighting and that didn't happen so maybe they will be ok sharing a coop with each other.

Sorry for all the pictures. I love pictures and I love my chickens so pictures of my chickens is what you get!

The brooder that held 26 Trader Joe's chicks is now empty as all birds off to new homes thanks to the poultry swap. It sure is quiet in the guest room!

thanks. I'm gonna go grab the chicks from my neighbors and let them hang out a bit every day for a couple weeks before I confine them to the coop at nights together.

Change of plans. Here are my babies in their new home finally!

notice there are only 4. So you see I had to change plans. I wrapped my dog cage in chicken wire and cut out a little hole the babies can fit through. Hooked up the heat lamp to the coop. The babies and bigger chicks are just gonna have to share the coop and figure out how to get along because I am NOT losing another! Went from 18 down to 4 in a week and a half!

The dog crate should work out ok. I put a blanket over mine at night but we were pretty cold here. In the house in my back room it is 60 or so.
I hope your 4 kids are doing okay.
