JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

So exciting to see everyone's eggs start to hatch!! I cant wait for this weekend when mine are due.

I just candled again because they weren't loosing enough and I had 3 that were questionable.

I'm still concerned about the weight loss. I Stopped adding water last week so I've been dry incubating for 4 days now.

I was still not able to see any growth in the 3 questionables so I removed them. I cracked them and confirmed they were infertile. I'm disappointed as 2 of them were blue eggs. Oh well, maybe next time.

The 4 remaining look to be developing nicely. I could see the chicks and lots of movement. Very exciting!!

Do I wait for first pip to add water or add it on day 18?

@nab for lockdown day 18; you will need to increase your humidity. Do you have a plan to get water into your incubator if it needs more after you lockdown without opening up the incubator? Ideally, for me the incubator locks down on 18 and you don't open it til 22.

Of course monitor it until then when you need to add water before lockdown. Soooo excited for you!

Day 20 and I have my first pip! Its one of my Silkie eggs. Hopefully many more pips to come :celebrate

@HerbGir1972 funny we ended up with the exact same thing, 10 EE and 5 Silkie! I'll let you know what comes of the eggs (and share pics ;) ). Good luck to you! And everyone else, loving all the chicks pics!
how exciting! I hope you are having a busy night with lots of hatching chicks.

Here is a picture of some of my chicks from the January hatch-a-long (1 week today) and almost 3 week old December hatch-a-long chicks. They have done wonderful together.
