JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Salmon Faverolles!!
400

Aww he or she is so cute!

Results are in and I'm excited! The temp spike had no bad effect on them.
19 growing chicks all with movement
And 9 that were either clear or unsure of right now. I didn't toss any!

I know you aren't supposed to count your chicks before they hatch but last time around we started with 12 and 10 went into lockdown. This time we started with 28 and 19 had definite movement in them... where are we gonna put them all!

I am so excited, now I need to go compare with my weights from this morning to see if I need to adjust my humidity or not.

Hope everyone's incubating/hatching is going well! :)

EDIT!! Well now that makes my weight results even more confusing. I have 8 that lost the correct amount, 8 that lost but not quite enough and 3 that lost too much. Would you say my humidity is fine or do I adjust it lower or higher??

Phew indeed! When we were candling them and we kept seeing them move we were getting a little overwhelmed by how many we had growing. These eggs/chickens are shared between my family and my neighbors family so we had 6 kids and 3 adults present for candling. We were sure we had killed them with the heat spike yesterday so we were all shocked with having 19 moving! I had originally only planned on setting 18 eggs so having one more growing then the amount of eggs i wanted to start with is definitely chicken math right there!! Yay for chicks though, I can't wait.

I've hatched a few. Salmon Faverolles are really cute, but I personally have a hard time getting over the extra toe. I dunno... It just weirds me out.
LoL! I just hatched a couple of Silkies. I feel the same way about the extra toe. It makes them look like monster feet or something. At least the Silkies have feathers covering their feet.

My hatch from this weekend- Seven hatched out of seven locked down.. You can tell which one was the straggler overnight lol.

Got a pretty good color variety this time, and one looks to have muffs and another muffs and a beard :clap
