You should show her a video of commercial laying hens...she will never eat them again. I cried when I saw how bad it was...can't remember the name of the documentary. From fork to table or something... People have lost the path of their food...because we don't eat food anymore...we eat processed chemicals... Sorry...I am very passionate about my food. Food almost killed me & I take it seriously....hence, buying my farm to grow food and now the chickens!

Giving birth to anything is "nasty" but the store bought eggs came out of a chicken too.

Yeah...im like that but my mom isnt...wish she was, but i love her the way she is!

I want to eat an egg from a healthy, happy, well fed chicken. Not one who can't support their own weight and lay until their bones cave in. Hence, my whole endeavor into a backyard flock...and organic farm. Still on the fence about eating my own chickens...but, I am seriously considering some Cornish cross and having someone else do the processing of them. Sick of paying $15 a small organic chicken.

I was on the fence about eating my own roos for a while. I didn't want to pluck, but if you don't want the skin, I peel off the skin/feathers like a coat, right after the slaughter, it is easy. Don't feel too bad, until they became food you gave them a good life. and even rehoming a roo can be traumatic.

double yolkers and long eggs don't usually hatch but I had the space.

A large percentage of my shipped eggs were "longs". I hope at least one or two hatch....
