Well, it's day 4 now and I just candled and I didn't see anything. I'm gonna wait a couple days before I candle again. Is it normal not being able to see anything at this stage?

I've read that day 10 is the best time to candle. I know a lot of folks that candle at day 4 and can see things fine.

I waited until day 9 and saw mine pretty good.

Ah, okay. I'm just worried I have a bunch of infertile eggs. I did crack one open (not an incubated one, but one that came from the hen that I'm hatching from) and it was fertile.

I'm probably gonna candle ("officially") around day 7 to 10.

This is one of my Day 4 eggs. This egg came from my hatchery Jungle Fowl hen and is brown in color. It may be a bit hard to see because it is so early in the incubation process but the veins are there!

My bantam Crevecoeur laid an egg today so I decided to incubate along with the others I set 5 days ago. Probably not a great idea but we recently got rid of our Barred Rock and Naked Neck roosters and I'm crossing my fingers for one of them to be the daddy. I'm a huge fan of Naked Necks and the Barred happens to be my favorite color/pattern in a chicken

A brighter flashlight would help but if you are patient enough, like Draye said day 10 is the best day to candle

Yeah, maybe I should wait... But I'm too impatient :3

I will join you- doing my first staggered hatch. So I'll need to make a hatcher in about 16 daysdays. So far I have 12 silkie eggs set on the 4th, and more eggs en route

I'm going to start mine Sunday and that should put me with a Jan 29th hatch date.

I'm going to incubate:
Blue Splash Marans
Blue Marans
Blue Wheaton Marans
Black Copper Marans
Blue Copper Marans only a little Copper not sure how much copper it may go away.
Olive eggers

Then start a second run about 5 days after the first one starts.
