January 2020 Hatch along

Pics
Do you mean today a midnight?
I'd do early in the morning but that's just me because they'll start pipping throughout Friday during the day. That's why I said midnight (Friday morning midnight)

Usually I get a few that hatch early, but those are always the ones with unabsorbed yolk :barnieluckily it didn't happen last hatch so hoping it won't this time either

All of mine are coming out on a Sunday or Monday. We just cleaned out the shed because that's where the brooder is going. The shed is close enough to the house that we can easily manage to check on them throughout the day.

Ugh me too. I have multiple stopping points (inside brooder for a couple of days, outside brooder for 1-2 weeks, small pen for the next 2-3 weeks, then a grow out coop). I've got 56 meat birds in the small pen that need to move to the grow out. The brooders are free for these hatchlings coming this weekend, but everything else needs to be cleaned out. Thinking I should get it all done now and move the meat birds so I don't have to worry about anything for a few weeks.

Good luck on your hatch this weekend!

Oh! 18 of my 24 BBS Cooper Marans eggs made it to lockdown! Many are rocking and rolling this morning, so fingers crossed. It looks like only 1 or 2 of the ones that didn't make it actually developed at all and quit, the others never started. So 18/20 of my shipped eggs that started development making it to lockdown is FABULOUS.

I have quite a few SMALL pullet eggs in this hatch... I'm a little nervous about them, but they've made it this far.... and hey... they're way bigger than quail eggs, and they make it out just fine. ;-)

@wolfwalker any hatch updates??? :pop

I just now got home, been up at the farm all day harvesting the broilers. Seven more to go. And they are the biggest which does not fit in the cones. SIGH...

I came home to pips.

I started these eggs in the hova=bator because of the egg turner in there. I really like being able to incubate fat side up for seven days as the air cell stabilizes each and every time as the embryo fixes it in place. BUT, even though it was new, I hate the heater with fan in it. every time I use it I have delayed hatching because I am sure the temp is off. And with 4 differing thermometers I get 5 different readings. If you include the digital temp gauge on the machine.

But hoping for chicks come morning.
