January Hatch-a-long 2018

That's exciting 500 quail eggs! Wow. Do they have a high hatch rate? They are such small eggs, do they take a similar amount of time to incubate?

On a side note, it's so sad that I've already bought the eggs for my next incubation cycle and these haven't hatched yet. Am I like an alcoholic at a bar? lol Ebay is just far to easy to click BUY NOW!

My maran eggs are so hard to see into I could hardly even see the air sack! We will see on day seven if I can see veining but these eggs are like a 6-7 on the darkness of an egg scale maybe an eight on one of them. They are gorgeous hoping for a good hatch on those.

You've got some lovely eggs there! Marans are the best. I broke down and paid an obscene amount of money for some Black Copper chickens from a respected breeder. They should hatch and ship in February. I'm trying to establish a foundation breeding group and build from there.

You should be able to better see the air sacs on day 7. And, you...may see some movement on day 7, but should see better movement on day 10. If not seeing movement, don't be discouraged! Go by how those air sacs are looking. By day 10, if you can't see movement, you will be able to tell you have a growing baby in there with a nice clear air sac. Those dark eggs are hard to see through all right. I also make sure that my humidity stays up for those...during lock down.

My quail eggs are a mix of bobwhite and cotournix. They take 18 and 24 days to hatch.

Generally I get a 90 percent plus hatch rate.

I hear ya on incubating being addictive. I fired up my incubators in January last year. Shut them down In September.

I'm June I was fortunate enough to hit a sale where there were 15 cabinet incubators. I bought 3 1202 cabinets and 1 1250 Hatcher. My hatching bug makes me think I need to try and keep them all full.

Before I came upon these quail I was getting ready to order 200 chukar eggs.

I ended up getting 8 maran eggs for 16 dollars plus 6 for shipping. These were her birds. There’s a chance for blue copper black copper and splash copper.
