Wow, we are having the exact opposite weather. It's in the 40's here in Utah! It's Dec....what?? Have to wonder if we are in for it the next couple of months to make up for this extra warm month.

I'm in Utah too! What part do you hail from? I'm in the Springville/Spanish Fork area. What humidity do you use for incubating and lockdown? It's so dry here it seems higher than most anywhere else. I spoke with 1 experienced hatcher who runs at 65% the whole time successfully. I wish our state thread was more active.

I'm in Spanish Fork. I hardly use any humidity during incubation period. 25 to 30% .. which is considered dry hatch. During lockdown, I raise it to the low 60's. I don't worry if it varies from high 50 's to mid 60's once hatching starts. The humidity always goes up during pips and of course actual hatching. I am one to snatch a baby out if it has hatched early. ☺ Hey, where do you live? Springville?

Mapleton. Unless you live close most people don't know where that is.

That's interesting. I'm still dialing in my incubating (4th-5th try). The best hatch I had was at 50-55% humidity for incubation and 65+ for hatching. My first ever go at incubating I dry hatched in the range you mentioned. It was a disaster :( But there were many places for me to go wrong those first few rounds. I chalked it up to low humidity. Now I weigh eggs and check air cells to monitor humidity.

I just ordered from Ebay 15 rare chicken eggs,(only one state over) 2 breeds to be included will be Spitzenhauben, and Ayam cemani, the others may be a pure surprise. And I am going to borrow an incubator, from a neighbor maybe she can pick me out from her chickens, pure BCM, or SFH eggs to add to the incubator.

this is a good thing, since something came and snatched 2 of my birds last two days, (naughty birds that slept outside and thought they were being clever not going to bed, I even took a very large flash light out to make sure they went to bed) So reaping and sowing i suppose.
