January Hatch-a-long 2018

Hello from Sunny Florida!!!! Happy New Year to everyone!!!

I have just set my first bunch of eggs in about 4 years!!! Yikes I'm excited!!! I had a little Giant but am using a 1609N Hovabator for this hatch (I have a Genesis on the way but was too excited to hatch something to wait)

I just set 18 Silver-Laced Wyandotte eggs from a lady who lives nearby. Looking to add something a bit more cold-hardy to the flock after this year's near arctic temps. Plus SLW are just so pretty.

the breeds that are in my incubator are white leghorn mix rir mix barred rock mix i have a rooster that is not the some breed has the hens so all of my eggs will be mixed im going to add some more to the incubator today im looking to get up to 15 eggs

I am being patient. I am waiting for my ebay eggs, the ad said delivered between Jan. 6-10th, from one state over. I am waiting to get my borrowed incubator too, my friend has to dig it out of her basement, sigh, I am telling myself, it is okay, the eggs are not here yet. I have home made incubators I can toss eggs into, if I had to. I guess I am not that patient, and you guys are getting the brunt of my impatience. Since I don't know what day the eggs will come, I have been eye balling my own chicken eggs to decide which to add to the 15 that are coming. So at least I have that.

I have hatched mostly in my home made incubator, this will be a first time in a real incubator. Octagon 20 is what she may lend me, unless she lets me borrow her octagon 40, I don't know. I would be better off with her smaller one, because if she gives me the bigger one, i may try to fill it....
