January Hatch-a-long 2018

Its day fifteen for me. I'm gonna either go on lockdown tomorrow or Sunday due to my silkie eggs being so developed. This thread is something I have a love-hate relationship with. I love all of the info on everything and the nice tips and friendly people, but seeing these chicks and stories of chicks is gonna drive me crazy waiting for mine to hatch! I've never been so stressed and worried and excited at the same time!

Tell me about it! I have 2 batches a week apart that are in 2 separate incubators. Ugh. I'm antsy!

mine has not made any progress the pip looks almost the same it has got a little more like the chick was pecking at it but there was not much progress :fl
You're going to drive yourself crazy hovering all day lol the sayings are true. A watched pot never boils, a watched hen never lays, ...and a watched egg never hatches! Pry yourself away and try to pass the time doing something else. Also, don't worry about the pip. Chicks can survive for like 2/3 days without food and water after they hatch. That's why day olds can be shipped in the mail. So your chick pipping and staying in the shell will be ok. I never worry about any pips getting bigger or anything for AT LEAST 24 hours. Give em time and don't fret! My comment (wayyyy back there now) about my first pip worried me after a while but it the baby hatched fine.

I say Sunday for you, Scott, silkies do hatch on day 19, I have had silkies hatch 20 or 21, but that might have been because they wanted to hatch at the same time as regular eggs. Chickens like to time it. but just don't be surprised. It is fine if you stop turning on Sun.

That makes me super excited. On Monday I will play chick noises to encourage them hatching. I have my brooder set up and I can't wait to bring out a good camera and take photos of them! I'm expecting 4 silkies and of which two of those could be naked necked! So I can expect chicks Tuesday through Friday even Saturday! wow, that will be a busy week.
