ok today is lock down and i wanted to candle my eggs just on more time and in one egg i could not see the air cell it is like the chick is in the air cell what does that mean

I don't know what that is, but hopefully someone can explain who does. Fingers crossed that your chick makes it!

Day 18 I took out the dividers marked which end had the most slant to the air cell set it slant side up, put them on card board cartons that have been hole punched, took the pic, air cells looked good, then I remembered had to check for the tips if they were clear, recandled just the tips, and six had a more clear pointy end. So again this pic is not their final setting. I took the ones with clear tips and set them on one side of the incubator and the regular ones on another.In my recandling may be 2 not only had clear tips, but looked pull-able, I will not pull them I set them in a separate section. But I will allow more time for the clear tip ones. They will take longer to hatch. It could be because they were shipped.

End of day 21. My five eggs were all laid on different days, and I'm keeping track of status updates:

12/26/17 - Pipped at around 4 pm PST
12/28/17 - Hatched around 3 pm PST. Peeping madly!
12/29/17 - Pipped at around 8 pM PST
12/31/17 - No activity yet
1/1/18 - No activity yet

I am now fully camped out on the bathroom floor, talking the chick that's hatched, who is madly peeping- healthy little thing! I was actually surprised to see it has perfectly clean little feet. Most of my bantam flock is made of cochins and silkies, and there are a few D'Uccles and Japanese. For this little one to have totally clean feet means a high likelihood it's pure japanese bantam, which suprises me as the eggs were all on the larger side of banty, and I thought them to be cochin eggs for the most part! So now I'm playing with the chicken calculator to see what coloration I may be ending up with.

Of my five eggs, I am now at 4 chicks, one internal pip. 3 of the chicks are in the brooder, and one is drying off in the incubator. Yay peeps!

Oh my word, that's new to me - why do you check for clear tips? Is it good or bad to have clear tips? I think I had a couple with a clear tip (is tip the pointy end)

mmmmh I thought this in a couple of my eggs and moved my flashlight (what I use to candle) and realized that my light was in the wrong position to see the air cell. Don't know if that's the same with you?

Clear pointy tips will take longer to hatch.

Most of the time if the chick is in the air cell that means the chick has broken the air cell and is preparing to pip i believe. If the tip is clear that usually means the chick isn't positioned correctly to hatch. That's why dark tips are preferred.

They still have days to develop, also it is an indicator there is still too much water in the egg. It is not hopeless, I hatched some eggs that were like that but on day 23.

thanks every one i will go candled that egg one more time and see if i was halding the flash light right lol and i will look at the tip
