Morning all! I still have one chick. He is actually a slate grey with a brown face! Cute! I have 7 more pipping!! Looks like today is gonna be full of action! Ill go take a pic of him

Too funny. I am fine. Just sitting here staring at eggs that aren't doing anything. Maybe later today I'll be posting pics of the new crew!

Well I will be searching out a new flashlight today. I have had two die on me in the last couple of days

Then I can candle the big double yolker and see if there is any development tonight - I'm gonna guess there won't be.

I candled my 46 shipped silkie eggs today at day 8.5. I was going to wait until day 10 but just couldn't stand the wait any longer!

I started with eggs shipped from two different people with a total of:
23 B/B/S
20 White
3 cuckoo over black hen

I now have
15 B/B/S
15 White
3 cuckoo over black hen

I am very happy with these results so far considering they were shipped from the south (GA and FL) to the north (MN).

When I put them in I went ahead and set 1 that was porus (didn't develop), 4 with detached air cells (3 never developed and 1 day 3 quiter), and 6 that looked like they had loose yolks when candled (only 1 didn't develop) so I knew some wouldn't develop.

Now to keep my hands AWAY from the incubator until next weekend for a day 16 candle. Don't think I will get a chance to candle before lockdown because of kids schedules. Always running somewhere! Just figured out that my daughter has a basketball tournament and a dance competition on hatch weekend.... going to pull my hair out!!!

well its day 16.5 for me, I candled and threw away 3 out of the 8 eggs.
opened them up and looked like very early quitters.
the other 5 look like they are developing great.nice movement in all of them
getting ready for the new chick have the brooder warming up in the garage
