pbjmaker: Adorable pics! I feel for your doggie! Ok, I'm "email lingo" illiterate, what's an NN breed? Only thing that came to mind was a Nantucket Ninny, sorry.

Hey everyone! I just found this thread.

Right now I'm testing my incubator and I had 3 eggs, but 2 of them quit early, so now I'm on day 20 with one egg.

So far, there are no pips. But the egg does wiggle once and a while, and when I gently tap the side of the incubator, it will wiggle in response. I think that right now the chick is absorbing the yolk and/or pipping internally (the air sack).

I think he/she will hatch either tomorrow or after tomorrow.

Good luck everyone! I'm trying my best to not get worried about my remaining egg already, and I've been watching it constantly (it's interesting to watch it wiggle once and a while from the chick moving around inside of it).

Anyone else on the 3-day wait?

77Horses: When your single eggs hatches, it'll be the most spoiled chick in New England. Best wishes!

Madcap621: Thanks for the links, they are definately worth keeping for reference on my computers.

Oh yeah, I'm at work, better get back to work! I'm one of the owners, but my hubby looks suspicious. Bye for now ............

save the favs: LOL probably!

I'm going to bring him/her everywhere with me. I know I shouldn't, but I think I'm alreading going to name is either Jasmine or Janette for a female, Jack or Jade for a male, or Jordan for both. Trying to think of names that start with J because she/he will be born in January. My favorites are Jasmine, Janette, and Jordan.

I've also already set up his/her brooder box, with temporary newspaper, a light, food/water dishes, and of course, a cute little stuffed animal for company.

It means Naked Neck. His papa is a showgirl, along with several of the others. But he is the only one to inherit the lack of feathers on his little neck.

I have a stupid question hoping some one will reply too , seems hard to get replys for me on this thread anyway.........
Can you open the bator after a chick or two is hatched to put them in a brooder while other eggs have not hatched yet??

It's not a stupid question.
The chicks don't need food for three days and if you open the bator while the other eggs arn't hatched you risk letting out all the humidity and risk losing the rest of the hatch or having them end up shrink wrapped. They need the humidity to break the egg shell to hatch.
Good luck

I have 3 pips! Yay! Sorry I haven't been around much on this thread, I look forward to getting to know everyone better next month. It has been a little crazy around here this week, we're getting our house rewired so there are always electricians here and it is cramping my style.

Anyway, I pulled out 14 clears (out of 24) before lockdown. Not bad since a lot of these eggs came out of the fridge. The remaining 10 eggs all had dark masses in them but some became dark early on so I don't know if those are good. I did see movement in 3 or 4 so that gave me hope. Then today I found the 3 pips when I got home. I'm trying so hard to be patient but I wish they would hatch already! I'm off to check again...

hope everyone else's hatches are wrapping up well! all the pics are so cute!

I have another pip!! That makes 4. And... one of the first pips is starting to zip! I didn't see any progress while I was watching but I did see the newest pipped egg moving and shaking. This is great... who needs cable TV anyway!
