no hatching eggs for me this time, my broody button quail hen decided she didnt wanna hatch out her 6 eggs half way through sitting and hasnt been back to sit on them for over 24hrs.
no baby buttons for me this time
My project ameraucanas... 3 duds, 4 developing, 1??...shell is too thick to see anything.
I marked the duds and left them in the incubator, "just in case". I will recandle the duds on Sunday when I need to refill the water resevoir. If they still haven't developed, I'll toss them.

What 'Inquiring Mind' want's to know is: WHAT do they DO with all of those chicks??
I have 2 3 mo old pullets & 2 5 week old pullets in 2 'porch coops', am sitting here watching the 9 surviving chicks from my new Years Hatch practicing their new flight skills in the brooder, have 26 probably boiled eggs - day 11 - I have decided not to give up on in one 'bator -- due to hatch on the 25th -- and an empty bator running behind me as b/u if the other one goes haywire again.
I have materials for a tractor coop and a 4' x 8' 'real coop' on hand, waiting for the weather to break. My initial goal was to have a small flock of 4 - 6 bantam hens [illegal, so no roos - re-homed the 3 in the first 6 newborns I brought home mid October]. now thinking 6 -8, no wait, maybe 8-10? Already planning another hatch -- know anyone w/porcelain D'Uccl B eggs? I fear I am hopeless

Hopeless ... awww, yes, you have it bad, don't you?
Extra chicks? Hmmm, I only hatch what I have room for (so far!). BUT, my feedstore is always asking me if I have chicks available. They have asked to sell any extras. We also have a radio show each day, called, "The Trader," where you can call in to advertise things to sell, buy, or trade. Lots of people call in looking for chicks!
Well, one of my cats decided to try sitting on the incubator last night, and tipped it over! My husband came running out of the office to tell me (of course he didn't think to remove the offending cat lol), and I went to check. Everything seemed ok, but the already cracked egg got another crack! It rolled into the pointy end of another egg, it looks like. So, another repair. If that poor thing hatches, we're going to have to name it Lucky.
I have all kinds of moving around in eggs!! looking very good !!
I also just bought another LG 9200 so i can have a hatcher and a incubator!!!
its so addicting ....................a fan will be next..lol
