I went ahead and closed out my Jan hatch as there was no sign of life in the remaining 10 eggs.

When I opened them, it was almost as if I was reading a diary of my temperature spikes.

They were all fertile. 6 appeared to have died near the end of the first week

, 3 looked like they made it to day 10 or 11

, 2 maybe to day 15

and the 3rd black silkie looks like it died early in lockdown , fully formed and filling the egg, still needing to finish absorbing the yolk but shrink wrapped

pbjmaker: Yes, I've changed his name. "Little Grumpy Oscar." it is! It is marked like a Dominique roo chick with the light spot on the head.

Madcap621: Will name the other when it hatches, "Happy" in keeping with the dwarf thing. "Grumpy" is a cockerel & will have plenty of opportunities to take his revenge. I'm quakin' in my chicken shoes (you know, the ones you only wear into the chicken yard). Looking forward to hearing about your next egg batch.

I came home just in time to see my pip push his way out of the egg! Not sure what color he is though, he came from a B/B/S pen but looks kind of gray and brown. He is a silkie by the way and I have another pip!

I have a chick in the bator and some other eggs rocking away hopefully I will have a few chicks to stick in the brooder tommorow morning.

I've got two out I'm on day 20 and lots of other ones pipping so I hope I can keep my fingers out of there

this is killing me this is my first experience with a bator.

cedar post: You can do it, just stay out & give those eggs a chance. Your 2 chickies will be just fine in there for a couple of days. Happy for you!

hcammack: Great, a chick & more to come! Is this in your new bator?

Karie13: A chick & a pip, yippie! Did you go to the gym or straight home? Glad you got to see it hatch.

Lop333: Congrats, on your 3 so far!

chickenstaker & PandoraTaylor: How's it goin'? Patience! My 2nd one just piped & hatched on day 22 this afternoon.

countrylife & nhanna: Best wishes on your lockdown eggs! We'll be rooting for you!

I think that's everyone? Please show us some pictures, bet all of your chicks are cute. Would like to see the turkin chicks too, never have. Happy hatching everyone!

Here's some pics of my little hatch. My Jan 27th hatch is done now with 2 chicks, they are strong & in the brooder. I'll keep watching this January thread to the end of the month, then I hope to see you for more sharing & fun on 'FEBRUARY HATCH-A-LONG come join in' https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=288983&p=1

"Happy" the 2nd chick hatched today, a whole day later

"Smiling Oscar" (he's no longer grumpy) hatched yesterday on time & had to spend the night alone

I am sooo glad these two hatched for you.

Thanks savthefavs, I have a little FrizzlexSilkie named Happy that was born on New Years day and another named December that was supposed to be here on New Years eve but came a day early. I am glad little grumpy got a friend so he won't be lonely.
Here is December & Happy.
